Nekoronomicon is a 2D exploration-focused action game where players control Rulie, a cat-eared heroine on a mission to retrieve a stolen magical tome from a thief. Gameplay centers on dynamic magic combat, allowing players to switch seamlessly between Fire and Ice elemental spells to exploit enemy weaknesses. Spells can be charged for more powerful impacts and aimed upward or downward to strike enemies at varying elevations or activate environmental switches and clear path obstacles. Visually, the game boasts extensive frame-by-frame motion animations featuring over 2,500 detail-checked frame variations, accompanied by full voice acting for the heroine by Shiki Asaki. While challenging, the combat system incorporates a recovery mechanic where receiving damage builds up a special meter, enabling players to unleash high-powered reversible attacks or restore health.
